Swimming Gala Success for Highnam
The Highnam gala team took part in the Large Schools final on Monday 21st March. This year they were competing against Ann Cam and Picklenash schools. First up were the individual races followed by the relay races.
Hannah and Joseph got the team off to a great start with wins in their respective frontcrawl races. Evie W and Luke both finished in first place in their individual breaststroke races. Taran and Eleanor both won their backstroke races as well. We had a number of relay successes: 1st place in the Year 5 Girls, Boys and Year 6 medley races and in the Year 5 and 6 frontcrawl relays. The final race of the event was the canon relay which the Highnam team also won. The pupils swam superbly all afternoon and won the overall shield with 640 points.
All the swimmers who finished in first place will be invited back to the finals in April. All the best to those swimmers and a big thank you to our team of supporters for cheering our team on.
