Highnam C of E Primary Academy are involved in an exciting Erasmus+ project called ‘Coding in a Cultural Europe’.
This is funded by the EU and allows us to create partnerships with schools across Europe – specifically from Turkey, Poland, Spain, Lithuania and Croatia. Miss Coldrick, Mrs Hazelden and Miss Cooney have already visited the school in Turkey in November 2018 and it was great to meet the other teachers involved, spend time in the school and make a start on the project.
This project lasts for two years and will allow children from all six schools to work on activities that aim to further their awareness of other countries and cultures as well as develop their computing and coding skills. Further information about Erasmus can be found on https://www.erasmusplus.org.uk
The funding for this project allows us to take a small group of Year 6 pupils to travel to some of our partner schools. These visits will last for five days (usually Sunday/Monday – Friday) and will include time spent in the school and with other children as well as some organised trips to places of interest.
Throughout the year we support Miss Read, an ex-Highnam teacher who is now based in Mozambique.
