Year 4 Wilderness Adventure

9 October 2019 (by admin)

On Wednesday 2nd October Year 4 headed off to the Wilderness Centre in the Forest of Dean for a s day mini-residential. On arrival the class enjoyed a tasty lunch looking out over the Severn estuary. Afterwards we were put into teams and took part in some team building challenges and some orienteering. Later that evening we had our first cooked meal and headed out on a night walk.

The next morning we enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast before taking part in a full day of activities. These ranged from bush craft to even abseiling off the main house roof.

"My favourite activity was crate stacking because I got to go quite high and I was working with Eliana." commented Freddie.

"I enjoyed crate stacking because Amelia and I got to knock the crates over once we had built our tower quite high!" said Annalise excitedly.

In the evening we took part in an egg drop danceathon. We all peered through the wooden bannister rails to watch our egg drop entries fly through the air towards the wooden floor below. It was an exciting evening and after a bedtime story we were all quickly asleep.

On Friday we were faced with the first challenge of the day...how to put our sleeping bags into small sleeping bag! Next we headed off to our morning activity most people enjoyed the archery and tunneling. We even had a game of sardines. After lunch we said goodbye to our instructors and headed back to Highnam.

We had a great time at the Wilderness Centre and want to thank Miss Thomas, Mrs Gilchrist, Miss Coldrick, Mr Dean the Wilderness team for making our adventure so memorable.
