Newent Egyptian Cooking Trip
This week Year 3/4 had an enjoyable visit to Newent Secondary School where we learnt to cook an Egyptian dish called Kushari. Mrs Palmer taught us lots of cookery skills which really helped us! We had lots of ingredients to organise and prepare, such as chopped onion, cooked pasta, lentils and tomatoes.
During the cooking time, the spices were very powerful and even made some of us cry! There were lots of mixed opinions when tasting our own Kushari dishes (See what some of us thought below). Overall, we loved cooking an Egyptian dish even if some of us didn’t like the taste!
Ed (Year 3) “I only liked the pasta, it was too spicy – I felt like my mouth was on fire!”
Grace T-H (Year 3) “I really liked the cooking but only liked eating the bottom part.”
Francesca (Year 4) “The cooking was awesome and the Kushari was delicious!”
Taran (Year 4) “The trip was brilliant! The food was quite tasty, my dad enjoyed it as well!”
