Below is a selection of great children's books recommended by Miss Coldrick.
Year 2 to Year 3 Transition - Summer 2020
Please find information to facilitate the move for our pupils from Year 2 (Key Stage 1) into Year 3 (Key Stage 2). Normally this meeting would be held in school but the presentation and virtual tour are available to share online with your child. We are looking forward to welcoming Year 2 pupils back into school in September.

In February 2019 we held a Doodle workshop for parents. This app based software has been made available to supplement the teaching of maths and English in school. Here is the link to the presentation:

In March 2018 we held a Reading Workshop for parents whilst pupils enjoyed a bedtime story with staff. Miss Coldrick shared a variety of resources to help parents support their children at home with reading. These included: age specific reading lists and VIPERS a resources to support question at home.

In October 2017 we held a Parental Maths Workshop to develop further the Home / School partnership to support the pupils of Highnam Academy. The evening was split into phases so their were presentations from Reception, Year 1 and 2, Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6. Thank you to the teachers for preparing the material and Miss Coldrick for organising the evening.
In September 2017 we held a meeting for new parents in Reception. Here is a copy of the presentation.
In January 2017 we held a Parental English Workshop Evening to develop further the Home / School partnership to benefit the pupils of Highnam Academy. The evening focused on the teaching of phonics and spellings in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Thank you to Miss Coldrick for preparing the evening and to the other staff members and pupils videoed in preparation for the evening.
