Incredible Invictus Trip

On Monday 30th November pupils in Years 5 and 6 were fortunate enough to visit the 'Invictus' exhibition in Gloucester.

Poems from a world-renowned Gloucester writer, William Henley and signed by South African legend Francois Pienaar are being displayed in the Gloucester City Museum. The poem was written in 1875 by Henley, a former Crypt School pupil, from his hospital bed while he battled against tuberculosis.

Here are some of the thoughts of the pupils that visited the exhibition:

Invictus Exhibition

On Monday the 30th December our schools year 5/6 went on a great trip to the folk museum and also went to see the invictus exhibition in the city museum. On the way we went to many places where famous people lived. We also learnt about them. The best bit of the trip was when we had free time to look around the city museum.

5/6s fun day out!

On Monday 30th of November 5/6R went to the Folk Museum and the City Museum.

First we got on the luxurious bus, it was so comfortable. The seats were recliners and there were cup holders on the back of the chairs which had pop out tables. Also there were foot rests and you could pull it down and put your feet on them. There were even radios and blue lights above your head which was really cool! On the floor there were soft brown carpets.

Once we arrived at the Folk Museum we walked in to put our bags into a room. After that we made our way to the City Museum  whilst we were walking, the tour gide told us some interesting facts about different famous people who came from Gloucester.

When we eventually got to the  museum we went around and looked at the different artefacts. Next to them there were facts which told us what it was. There was a kitchen and there was pans so you could pretend to cook and see what they ate. There was a skeleton that you could also look at. You also can lift bricks up and they were heavy, so imagine what it would be if it was real brick. Upstairs there was art projects that people have made. Also there was a statue of William Ernest Henley which was made by Roadin. There was even dressing up so you could see what they wore. We even managed to get Miss Read to dress up along with some children including Jess, Evie and Zoe.

After about 1 hour we started to walk back to the room where we left our lunch. Once we got there we ate our lunch. Once a group of girls had finished Evie discovered an old fashioned iron which then attracted everyone. Nearly everyone had a go and we ironed aprons and towels.

After that we went inside the Folk Museum. There was even more dressing up this time.
