Mrs Dwight's Wetherleigh Wanderers Win Sports Day

Congratulations to Mrs Dwight's Wetherleigh Wanderers for winning the 2013 Key Stage Two Sports Day. The team narrowly pipped Mr Tibbles' Lassington Legends by one point. On a lovely afternoon the pupils of Highnam Academy took part in a friendly but competitive Sports Day. This year there were five teams named after local roads or areas. The team names were:

Miss Thomas' Maidenhall Mauranders

Mrs Ruxton's Rodway Racers

Mrs Dwight's Wetherleigh Wanderers

Mr Tibbles' Lassington Legends

Mr Dean's Oakridge Overtakers

This year there were the traditional running races but also included were a selection of field events too. Year 3 threw a tennis ball, Year 4 a mini-howler, Year 5 a javelin and Year 6 a discus. Following the traditional pupil and adult race the results were announced.

In second place was Mr Tibbles' team with a score of 73 points but Mrs Dwight's team scored 74 to just win!
