Poland - Day 4 Blog

24 May 2019 (by admin)

Wednesday

This morning we visited a secondary school for more coding activities. While the teachers from all the countries met, the children took part in lessons on arduino and Lego NXT. This involved creating a set of algorithms to programme a Lego robot to move around the room. They were also tested on their knowledge of Poland using Kahoot. Meanwhile, Miss Coldrick and Miss Thomas took part in a computing lesson with a class of 16 year old boys (the girls don’t take this lesson; they do sewing or hairdressing instead). There was a moment of panic when Louis lost his phone (he’d left it in one of the classrooms).

Once we’d had lunch (soup and pancakes with various fillings), we headed into the centre of Ziebice. We popped into the tourist information centre then visited Ziebice museum. There were some interesting exhibits to explore from the past - collections of weapons, musical instruments, everyday household objects and even a porcelain urinal! Tehya did a fabulous job of reading out the information about the exhibits for the whole group in English.

After that, it was time for the children to go back to their host families. Louis headed back to Tyler’s house to play on the Xbox and have a game of football with Mateusz and Maceik. The girls bumped into Miss Thomas and Miss Coldrick in Tesco (yes, they have Tesco here!) and then went to church and out for a meal with the family.
