Unit Two take part in the Snack Attack challenge

This term our topic is all about chocolate. We have been reading a book called 'The Chocolate Touch' by Patrick Skene Catlin, writing chocolate inspired poetry and learning all about the chocolate making journey.

We are also taking part in the 'Snack Attack' challenge. The aim of the competition is to invent a Fairtrade snack, come up with a name, design the packaging and develop a promotional campaign. The whole unit are taking part trying to have their ideas chosen by the panel of judges (the teachers)! Last week the pupils had to come up with their new Fairtrade snack. The ingredients needed to be carefully thought about because they had to be Fairtrade products. Next we needed to come up with, a unique selling point for our snack and then finally we had to 'pitch' our snack idea to the panel of judges.

Making our chocolate bars

Harry and Annalise had their snack ideas chosen because they chose tropical fruits (banana and mango), Fairtrade milk chocolate and they used a school survey to support their choices. This week both classes have been making the chosen snack following the ingredients suggested by Harry and Annalise. Here are some of the finished chocolate bars.
