House Music was FABULOUS!

Today saw the first ever house music competiton at Highnam Academy. Each house was tasked with performing a whole house number, a group piece and a solo. We were excited to well come into the Academy Mrs Taylor, Mr Williams, Mrs McLaren and Miss Hemelryk to judge the competition.

Maidenhall kicked off the competition and with Josette playing her flute, after we heard from Connic singing 'Tomorrow' from Annie. Next up was Yinka playing Nessun Dorma on her violin and finally Annalise sang I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables.

After the soloists we moved on to the group performances with Toby and Jamie on the piano and drums. Next was the Wetherleigh Wonders singing their rendition of Wetherleigh to the famous tune of Jingle Bells. The Oakridge group performed Walking on Sunshine and finally Joe and William were playing the piano and drums for Maidenhall.

Finally we moved on to the whole house performances. Oakridge started with 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious', next was Wetherleigh with 'Built it High', third was Maidenhall with 'I Can See Clearly Now' and the final performance was from Lassington with 'We are the Champions'.

The whole school waited patiently while the judges deliberated which house was going to be the Music Champions! After the anxious wait for the results, the judges announced that:

In 4th: Maidenhall

In 3rd: Wetherleigh

In 2nd: Lassington

In 1st was...Oakridge!

Everyone had a delightful time taking part in the House Music, and can not wait till the next house competition.
