Over Farm Trip

Year 1 and 2

(part 2 / Year 2)

On Wednesday 5th June, Class 1H and 2T went on a trip to Over Farm as an introduction thier topic of growing. Have a look at some of the plants and activites we got up to on our trip.

It was a very long walk from school to Over Farm, especially with all of our backpacks!

When we arrived we met our teacher for day, called Alison. She told us all about the pumpkin seeds which were going to be planted ready for October.

In the schoolroom we talked about the farm and about the different crops and eggs available on the farm. We had to guess the size of an ostrich egg using our hands - it was rather large!

On our walk around the farm we saw lots of different crops being grown. See if you can recognise any.

We were very lucky as we were allowed to all pick a piece of rhubarb to take back to class with us. It was very tough to pick the rhubard but we did it! We even found a caterpillar in one piece!

During the day we had to go on lots of hunts using the crops around us. We had to find a crop the same height as us and also create a rainbow picture using rainbow chard.

Along with looking at the plants and crops, we also got feed and pet the animals around the farm.

We found the ostriches very interesting and odd. We wanted to know what he was thinking.

One of the best parts of our day was going on our tractor ride to and from the farm shop.

Stayed tuned for our rhubard crumble made from the rhubarb we picked at Over Farm.
