K'Nex Challenge

Yesterday afternoon, Year 5 and 6 went into the hall and met Mrs. Follis. She explained to us what our challenge was this year. Our challenge was to create a house out of K-Nex with a water wheel on the side. The house had to have at least two floors (some had more). The water wheel had to be attached to an axel which had a pulley on it. On the second floor there was another axle with another pulley on it. The two pulleys were attached together with a rubber band. Hopefully if you turned the top axle the bottom axle would move which would hopefully make the water wheel move.

Year 5 could take part in the challenge but that was only practice for next year when it was their turn, but in Year 6 it was really competitive! The winning team would go into a regional competition and if they won that they would go into a national competition. Year 6 pupils were put into teams of 2 and one team of three. I was in the team of 3 with Chloe and Ella. We had about an hour to create our entry and at the end it was judged, not only on our model but also on our teamwork. In the end the winners were Jack and Tia.
