PQ PE Event at Hartpury College

20 May 2019 (by admin)

Today, Monday 20th May, Highnam pupils joined with pupils from the other Primary Quest schools to take part in a special PE event. The other schools present were: Redmarley, Staunton and Corse and for the first time Hartpury School joined us. The class that joined in the event were: Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

We arrived at school in our PE kits and headed into class to be registered. After a quick toilet stop we got onto the coaches and set off for Hartpury College. Some of us were with Year 1 and some were with Reception pupils.

It took us about 13 minutes to get to Hartpury College. Once we arrived we were dropped off by the new Sports Centre next to the bus / coach park.

We walked into the Sports Centre and hung our jumpers up in the new changing rooms. We then walked over to the sports field and met the Hartpury College students who had organised the event.

We were very excited to be there and to see the other schools. We couldn’t wait to try some new PE activities and had a day learning through sport.

Some of the activities were based around Olympic sports such as javelin throwing and relay races.

“My favourite activity was the parachute because it made lots of bumps and we got to go under it,” commented Savannah.

“My favourite sport part was playing football because I got so score a lot of goals,” exclaimed Frankie.

After a few activities we enjoyed a tasty lunch provided by Cater Cater and got to pop to the toilet.

It wasn’t long before we headed back to the sports field and we joined in some more sporting activities. The activities we got to try out during the day were: football, parachute games, obstacle course, balancing on a bench, British bulldog, floor is lava, javelin, Foxes and Rabbits, tag rugby, stuck in the mud and bench ball.

At the end of the afternoon we all sat together and some certificates were handed out to celebrate the Hartpury values that were on show. We thought about teamwork and determination.

Finally, we got back on the coaches and headed back to Highnam. We’d had a great PE day and want to thank Hartpury College and their students for hosting our Primary QuEST event.

“Our day had been very exciting and it was fun to learn some new sports and activities,” said Dillion and Summer enthusiastically.
