Pupils in Years 5 and 6 recreate VE Day

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 recreated the VE celebrations when officially World War 2 came to an end. Wearing replica clothing and sampling similar food the pupils took time to look at some medals and photographs from VE day. Victory in Europe Day, generally known as V-E Day, VE Day or simply V Day was the public holiday celebrated on 8 May 1945 to mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces. People took to the streets and organised street parties to celebrate. The Year 5 and 6 team cooked food which would have been eaten on the day. The morning was an inspired learning experience - thank you to Miss Gent and Miss Owen for organising it.
