Saying Goodbye to Year 6...and Miss Read

24 July 2017 (by admin)

An update from the end of the academic year

At the end of another exciting year we said our sad goodbyes to our Year 6 pupils. The pupils had a great final few days enjoying Battlesports, bowling, disco, BBQ and the leavers' service. The leavers' service was so enjoyable with the pupils sharing their memories, most embarrassing movements, residential highlights and some excellent surprise videos. Mr Dean spoke to the pupils about being cubs and how we are looking forward to seeing the pupils become lions. We thought about being determined, courageous, strong, calm, determined and showing pride in the things we do. At the end of the service Mr Perks, a school governor, handed out the reflections books to each pupil to enjoy. On the Friday afternoon we held a surprise Collective Worship to say goodbye to Miss Read. We heard from Miss Read about the next part of her teaching adventure, the highlights from her time at Higham and her parents joined us too. The Year 6 pupils sang a lovely song saying thank you for the years that she'd taught them and the Highnam staff wowed Miss Read with a special Carpool karaoke. We look forward to hearing all about Miss Read's adventures next year.
