Highnam Church Of England Primary Academy

On Monday morning, 8 pupils from Years 5 and 6 headed off to Newent Cricket Club for the annual Newent festival. Hannah, Amber, Sienna, Darcey, Fran, Tatiana, Freya and Alana took on a number of teams from across the Forest of Dean. Our first game was against Hartpury and we batted first and scored 228. We restricted them to 206 from their 8 overs so we won by 22 runs. In the next game against Ann Cam it was a lot tighter…the final score was Highnam 221 and Ann Cam 214 so a 7 run victory. After the group matches we went through to the festival final were we played St John’s School from Coleford. We all played very well bowling tightly and trying not to hit the ball in the air. The final score was Highnam 222 and St John’s 202. Thank you to Mrs Townsend for taking us and umpiring the games and to our parent helpers. We are looking forward to the county finals next Friday.
