Collaboration

Highnam Academy benefits from collaboration with others. In Primary Quest, our three academy group, we benefit from the enhanced leaning opportunities for pupils of Highnam, Staunton & Corse and Redmarley and the provision of vital developmental opportunities for staff. For pupils this includes Maths workshops and a Spelling Bee as well as sporting opportunities. For staff there have been moderation of levels workshops, termly joint staff meetings, curriculum project folders, first aid training and governor training sessions.

The appointment of a shared business manager has reduced the load on the three Heads and allowed us to achieve greater value for money in procurement e.g. the cost of the annual audit.

The Local Authority has recognised the expertise and experience available within the group and has used this to support another school which Ofsted deemed in need of improvement.

The governors have been able to help improve governance across Gloucestershire. A Chairs of Governors Workshop for about 30 Chairs was held at Highnam. We have good links with the National Governors’ Association which enabled us to bring the National College’s ‘Chair of Governors’ Development Training’ course to Gloucestershire by working in partnership with Adfecto, the Secondary Schools Headteachers training organisation. So far around 40 Chairs of Governors are either on this year-long course or have completed it.

Highnam is part of the Tewkesbury District Partnership of nearly 40 Primary Schools. This provides professional development opportunities for Headteachers and staff and can take the lead with the introduction of new policies and procedures.

Highnam Academy believes that our pupils will benefit by us working with and learning from others. Collaboration, school to school support, is a central part of our philosophy to keep improving the educational experience we provide for our pupils.
