Native American Arts Week - Day 1 and 2

This week the pupils of Highnam Primary School have been visiting North America. Pupils have been experiencing a wide variety of activities relating to the Native Americans. Each member of staff has been responsible for diffferent learning experiences.

    • Mrs Hazelden has been making Native American tunics
    • Miss Cole has been out on the field introducing pupils to the game of Lacrosse
    • Mrs Townsend and Mrs Wilson have been producing stunning pieces of tribal artwork
    • Mrs Chaloner has been making dream catchers
    • Mr Dean has been making tipis
    • Mrs House has been recreating Native American tribal dances
    • Mrs Parsons has been making headdresses
    • Mrs Taylor has been introducing pupils to famous tribal leaders
    • Mr Tibbles has been constructing totem poles
    • Mrs Ruxton has been making tribal jewellery

"I have found that the Native American Arts Week has taught us a lot about their culture, history and lifestyle. It has been an amazing and eventful week so far. We can't wait for Friday afternoon when we will have our tribal gathering."
