District Cross Country Race

On a cold, November afternoon a number of Highnam Academy pupils represented the Newent District in the District Cross Country trials. Highnam were well represented with 3 girls and 5 boys. Cameron, Ed, Haydn, Harry and Luke represented took part in the first race and Kelsey, Izzy and Hannah took part in the girls race.

There are two selection races - one in November and one in early February, The top six runners from each race would qualify to represent the Forest of Dean district in the County Race in March,.

Over 70 boys took part and Cameron finished in 10th, Ed in 13th, Haydn 17th, Luke 28th and Harry 32nd.

In the girls race both Hannah and Izzy qualified for the County race in 5th and 6th respectively, Kelsey finished in 16th and will be well placed to qualify in the second race to be held at Newent.
